Were you perhaps wondering what I was up to today? No? Well I'm going to tell you anyway because today was a great day.
1. I've been working on setting up a website for one of my projects this year. A web comic. I don't know how funny I am or how well my drawing style will be received, but it's something I've wanted to do for years so I'm going to just do it and get it out of my system. It will either be awesome or not, but there's only one way to find out which it will be. It took me weeks to decide on a name for my comic, and in the end it was something completely random that just sort of popped into my mind and made me laugh. Which makes it awesome. I'll share when I'm ready to start posting things there.
2. I got contacted by a rep from Food & Wine about using one of my photographs for a feature on their website. Which is kind of awesome. The picture has been seen here on my blog, in fact I took it in my own kitchen last March. When I get a link from them once the thing is up I will be bouncing off my chair and share with you then.
3. I had friends for dinner this evening. And it was awesome. Yeah, it was the very friend I was talking about having made cry yesterday. She's kind of one of those amazing friends everyone loves having. We had such a blast having them over. The kids ran around and played all through the house, the babies did baby stuff, and we had adult conversation that didn't exclude anyone really.
4. For dinner I made one of my favorite things, Turkey Pot Pie. I kind of didn't like pot pie when I was a kid but I love it now because I love the way I make it. Which is not so wet. For my friends, who are serious 'real foods' eaters I researched a good crust recipe that did not involve Crisco. Just butter. AND IT IS AMAZING. I mean, really it tastes just like the other, the texture is just finer and it definitely has flake where the other had more of a crumble. I might be a convert since it wasn't any more difficult to make than the other, and let's be honest..taste and ease are all I care about.
5. I hope to have my baby blanket for my friend Beth done tomorrow. Which is awesome. And as luck would have it, even though she's due weeks after my other friend, it's a good thing I chose to start her quilt first because I found out last week that her shower is in like 2 weeks. Aaah! Good thing I'm almost done with the primary gift! Pics tomorrow if I manage to get the binding completed (fingers crossed!).
6. While we were winding down and my friends were slowly moving towards leaving the kids suckered me into playing hide and seek with them on the first floor. The only rooms you had to hide in were the dining room, where the adults were, the living room or our library. I had everyone looking for me because the kids couldn't find me and were getting upset so they dragged the adults into the hunt. And I thought my hiding spot would be an obvious choice...hahah! I'm kind of tickled that they couldn't find me until I made enough noise to make it obvious and leaned out so I was just looking at people. Hee!
Here's hoping tomorrow is just as much fun! We'll see how many 'awesome's I can work into tomorrow's post. *wink*
